EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (BAMM Network) — When YouTube star IShowSpeed took the stage during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final closing ceremony, it marked more than a performance—it signaled how global sports are increasingly embracing the influence of digital creators.
IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., performed his song "World Cup (Champions)" as part of FIFA's pre-match entertainment lineup before Sunday's championship match. FIFA announced the streamer as one of the featured performers alongside global music stars including Post Malone, Robbie Williams, Laura Pausini and Nicole Scherzinger. The tournament also introduced FIFA's first Super Bowl-style halftime show.
In a statement announcing the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the closing ceremony would be "a celebration befitting the biggest sporting event in history," bringing together music and football on one of the world's largest stages.
For IShowSpeed, the invitation represented a career milestone.
"I think out of everything I've done, I think me performing at the World Cup final is probably one of my most craziest achievements," he said after the performance.
Known for his energetic livestreams and soccer content, the 20-year-old creator has built an audience of more than 40 million YouTube subscribers and millions more followers across social media, making him one of the most recognizable internet personalities in the world.
