Criminal Investigation Opened After LSU Student Accuses Football Player of Sexual Assault

BATON ROUGE, La. (BAMM Network) — The East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney’s Office has opened a criminal investigation into an alleged sexual assault involving an LSU football player and a female student, after the student publicly described the accusation on social media.

District Attorney Hillar Moore said his office first received the matter Tuesday and has requested reports, interviews, evidence and other records from LSU, the LSU Police Department, Baton Rouge Police Department, the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office and any other agency with relevant information.

The student said the alleged assault occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 18, 2025, on LSU’s campus. The player’s name has not been publicly released.

LSU said the student-athlete was the first to report the incident to police, but no criminal complaint was filed at that time. The university said the matter was also handled through its Title IX process and that it followed its policies and procedures.

“Safety and security must be our number one priority,” LSU President Wade Rousse said in a statement, adding that the university would continue cooperating with law enforcement now that a criminal complaint has been filed.

The student has publicly criticized LSU’s handling of the case and said she believes the university protects football players. Those claims have not been proven, and LSU disputes the suggestion that it failed to follow proper procedures.

No criminal charges had been announced as of Tuesday, and the allegations remain under investigation.
