Young Thug Returns to the Road, Bringing Atlanta's Next Generation With Him

ATLANTA (BAMM Network) — Young Thug is returning to headlining arenas and amphitheaters for the first time in more than six years, but his newly announced New Generation Tour is about more than a comeback.

The tour marks one of Atlanta's most influential artists reclaiming the stage while introducing a new wave of talent from his Young Stoner Life (YSL) label, signaling what industry observers say could be the beginning of a new chapter for one of hip-hop's most influential music collectives.

The North American and European tour begins Sept. 1 in Rogers, Arkansas, before making stops in Chicago, New York, Houston, Birmingham and Atlanta. The hometown show is scheduled for Sept. 20 at Lakewood Amphitheatre. Joining Young Thug on the tour are several emerging YSL artists, including Diamond*, Tezzus, 1300SAINT, Iyrus, Yume, Biggs and Unky, along with special guest NAV.

For Atlanta's music industry, the lineup may be as significant as the tour itself.

Rather than building the tour around established chart-topping artists, Young Thug is using one of the year's highest-profile hip-hop tours to introduce the next generation of performers associated with YSL, the Atlanta-based label he founded in 2016. Over the past decade, YSL has helped launch or elevate the careers of several influential artists while becoming one of the city's defining creative collectives.

The announcement comes after several turbulent years for both the artist and the label.

Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffery Williams, spent more than two years fighting Georgia racketeering charges before reaching a negotiated resolution in late 2024. Since his release, he has returned gradually through festival appearances, including a high-profile performance at Coachella earlier this year, before announcing his first full tour since 2019.

His return arrives at a pivotal moment for Atlanta's rap scene.

For more than two decades, Atlanta has served as one of the world's most influential hip-hop capitals, producing artists whose music has shaped mainstream rap around the globe.
